My name is Chrissy Partridge (actually its Scoffield as of a year ago but I have been to lazy to change the schools record).  This is my last year at USU, I am majoring in Physical Education with a Health minor.  I currently am a coach of a girls state soccer team here in Logan, and we are doing awesome this season.  I love road biking and I started to Mt bike this summer.  I don't know how long Mt biking in Logan will last though, since I have ran over a total of 2 snakes and seen many more on the trails up green canyon.  I really like to bike so I hope my phobia of snakes can be over come, or the snakes in Logan get a little smaller or die off completely.
My hope after college is that I will get a job at a high school teaching P.E. or Health and have the opportunity to coach high school soccer.  Out of the two teaching subjects I would have to say that I hope to teach P.E. over Health.  P.E. was always a class where I could let loose in and really have a good time, which is what I hope my students will get out of the class as well.  I strongly believe that more people would be active if they would have been taught how to enjoy exercise and sport.  I feel that many people chose to be inactive simply because they do not know where to start or feel as if they cannot compete with others on a skilled level.
When first asked to do this assignment my thoughts were, "great, now my horrible spelling and grammar will be published for all the English majors to see."  So I hope that you are all patient with my postings.

  1. Even Shakespeare spelled the same word many different ways....so maybe bad spelling is a sign of a creative mind that refuses to conform? :) All to day, don't worry about your spelling for the English majors.

That's great that you are coaching a girls' soccer team; sports can be such a life-shaping experience for so many young people and will give you the opportunity to be a strong mentor in their lives.

Thanks for your first posting and I look forward to future ones to come!

  2. Glad to see another student is turning to mountain biking. That's been my saving graces for exercise this summer. I agree that more people just need to find something they enjoy to stay active. I've taken my commuter bike on way too many trails this summer (or not enough, depending on how you look at it).

Much as I love riding, if anything would make a ride unpleasant for me, its a snake. Sorry to hear of your luck. Keep up the rides, cause when the weather turns bad you're sure to miss it.

  3. I didn't know you coach a state team, I'm jealous. How did you get into doing that? And I can't believe you would kill those poor innocent snakes! Rude! Ha Ha Ha!
I agree with you that more people would be active if they are exposed to different activities and find something they enjoy. My porblem is I have TOO many that I don't have enough time to do them all. Hopefully that will change when I'm done with school and have all summer to play!
